|  Subject: Reflection Image  Tue 25 Mar 2008, 21:39 | |
| Title: Reflection Image
Description: Applicable for button, siggy or icons in profile.
Requirement: Adobe Photoshop CS, creativity and imagination
Tested With:IE6+,Fx2
Result:
Step 1:Open a new document in and select size 200x200 px with background color black.
Step 2:
Make a new layer (name it button) and select your Rounded Rectangle Tool. Choose radius 8px.Like in the picture below.
Step 3:
Right click on the button and select rasterize. Then right click again and choose blending options.In here i choose #5D6E07 color for the button.
Play with the Gradiënt,Stroke and Inner Glow. Just be creative.
Step 4:
Make a new layer and select Text tool and write your name or what ever word you want to put on the button.Here i wrote a name "Safni" with Trebuchet MS font and 34pt size.
Step 5:
Then go to your layer palette and turn of the visibility of the background layer (click on the eye-icon so it disappears). make sure your button layer is selected and go to layer -> merge visible. Now you see the text layer and the button layer are melted together. Now you can put the visibility of your background back on.
Your layer pallete should look like this.
Step 6:
Now right click on the button layer -> duplicate layer. Name the new layer 'reflection'. Now with the reflection layer selected go to edit -> transform-> flip vertical.Select your move tool and place the reflection under the original (push arrow down) like this :
Step 7:
With the reflection layer selected, add a layer mask. Select the gradient tool: linear gradient colors black-white.
Step 8:
Draw a line from the button of the reflection to the top of the original button. You'll the reflection will fade away. Now we just have to adjust the opacity of the reflection (60 %) and you have created a relection mirror to the image.
Here i make a siggy and use the reflection technique to reflect the image. Be creative!

| U can always do the trick and apply it to other style of design u want. For example my siggy.. see the mirror effect? i'm using this technique to make it.. U can also colorize ur gradient to any color that u want by selecting the color of gradient tool first before applying step 8.
